Game Basics
- Players: 2
- Setup Time: 10-20 minutes
- Playtime: 1.5 to 2.5 hours
- Age: 12+
Core Components
- Teams: Choose from a variety of fantasy races, each with unique strengths and weaknesses (e.g., Humans, Orcs, Dwarfs, Elves).
- Board: Represents the football field divided into a grid where players move, pass, and tackle.
- Miniatures: Represent the players on each team. Teams typically consist of 11-16 players.
- Dice: Special dice are used to determine the outcomes of actions (block dice, D6, D8, D16).
Gameplay Overview
- Setup: Players set up their teams on the field. Each coach places up to 11 players on the pitch, typically with a mix of linemen, blockers, throwers, and catchers, depending on the team.
- Kickoff: The game begins with a kickoff, with one team kicking the ball to the other. A kickoff table determines events that occur before the ball lands, such as a blitz or changing weather.
- Turns: Each coach takes turns moving their players, attempting to score by moving the ball into the opposing team’s end zone. Coaches can move, pass, block (tackle), and perform special actions depending on the team and skills of the players.
- End of Turn: A turn ends when all players have moved or when a “turnover” occurs (e.g., if a player drops the ball, fails a block, or is knocked down).
- Touchdowns: When a player successfully carries the ball into the opponent’s end zone, they score a touchdown. The game is played over two halves, and the team with the most touchdowns at the end wins.
- Injuries: Players can be knocked out, injured, or even killed during the game, with the severity determined by injury rolls.
