Game Description:
Unfathomable: A Haunting Journey Across the Atlantic
The year is 1913. The steamship SS Atlantica is two days into its voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. The passengers expected a peaceful trip to Boston, but something strange lurks beneath the surface. Nightmares haunt them, dark shapes follow the ship, and tensions rise when a body is discovered in the ship’s chapel, surrounded by signs of a strange ritual.
Lurking in the depths are the Deep Ones, monstrous creatures led by Mother Hydra and Father Dagon. These horrors have set their sights on the Atlantica, and human-Deep One hybrids have infiltrated the ship to help sink it from within. In Unfathomable, one or more players take on the role of these secret hybrids, tasked with sabotaging the voyage while remaining undetected.
If you’re playing as a human, your goal is to fend off the Deep Ones, protect the ship from damage, and manage four critical resources in order to reach Boston safely. But you must also figure out who among your fellow passengers is a friend and who is a foe. Humans and traitors share the same resource pool, with the former trying to preserve it while the latter subtly depletes it.
At the end of each player’s turn, a Mythos card is drawn, presenting the group with a crisis. Some crises, like “Food Rationing,” force players to make tough choices that can risk passengers or resources, while others, like “Hull Leak,” require skill tests with potentially disastrous outcomes if failed.
In skill tests, players secretly contribute skill cards to a shared pool. The cards are shuffled and revealed to determine if the test passes or fails. Traitors may use this opportunity to sabotage the group by contributing the wrong skills, so trust is always in question.
Unfathomable is a game of hidden identities, resource management, & tense decision-making, where every choice could mean the difference between survival & sinking into the depths. Can you make it to Boston, or will the Deep Ones drag you down?
